Where the Wild Things Are
by Maurice Sendak
The term Obama served as president he made mischief of one kind
His electorate called him "LIBERAL THING!" and Obama said "I'LL RAISE YOUR TAXES!" So he was sent to the oval office without signing anything.
That very day in Obama's office the deficit grew
And grew until all spending bills hung with pork and the budget bought up the world all around
And a motercade came by with a private limo for Obama and he drove off through 17th Street and Constitution Avenue
And in and out of streets and almost over the span of an hour to where the liberal things are.
And when he came to the hill where the liberal things are they roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth
And rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws.
Til Obama said "BE STILL!" and tamed them with the magic trick
Of reading from a teleprompter and not stuttering once and they were overjoyed and called him the most liberal thing of all
And made him king of all liberal things
"And now," cried Obama, "let the wild spending start!"
. . .
"Good job!" Obama said and gave all the liberal things tarp funds without any restrictions. And Obama the king of all liberal things was lonely and wanted to be loved even more.
Then all around from far away across the world came thrills of joy as his term ended, so he gave up being king of where the liberal things are.
But the liberal things cried "Oh please don't go--we'll amend the constitution--we love you so!" And Obama said, "Wish I could."
The liberal things roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws but Obama stepped into his private jet and waved good-bye.
And flew back over Pennsylvania and over Ohio and Michigan and through Illinois and into the city of his very own district where he found his old communities to organize
And they were still poor.
